A gust of 60 mph was measured at a public weather station just east of Kiowa.

Wider weather episode

A deep southwesterly flow October developed during Monday and Tuesday, with the strongest winds during the two days coming on Tuesday afternoon. High Wind Warnings were out for section of western Kansas. Numerous 45 to 55 mph while a few a small number public of mesonet locations reporting gusts 60 mph or higher.
