Event narrative
Tidal flooding was reported in downtown
Jacksonville from Hogans Creek drainage
right off of the St. Johns river. Roads and
parking lots along Hogans Creek were
impassable this morning around high tide
including Maxwells House, Vystar Arena and
JSO. About 3 ft of water was across Forsyth St and
a vehicle was stalled in the floodwaters.
The Main Street Bridge river gauge reported
high tide at 8:12 AM and peaked in minor
flood stage at 1.69 FT MHHW.
Wider weather episode
The combination of high astronomical tides and persistent onshore flow caused tidal flooding along the St. Johns River basin.
