Drought level increased to Severe (D2) in late October and persisted through the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

A near-total absence of rainfall during much of October again exacerbated drought conditions that had previously improved in September. Areas of southwestern Central Alabama saw drought level increase to Severe (D2) by the last week of October, which persisted into November.
