A member of broadcast media reported that lightning struck a home on Marco Island, damaging the attic and leading to a subsequent fire. Time is based on National Lightning Detection Network data which showed several lightning strikes in the immediate area. Damage totals are estimated.

As a surface frontal boundary pushed southward through the southeastern United States, winds began to veer south-southeast bringing moist, warm air into South Florida. This supported the development of numerous showers and thunderstorms across the area throughout the day.
