A thunderstorm wind gust of 44 mph / 38 knots was measured at the SFWMD Lake Okeechobee Center sensor.

With a mid-level trough over the Florida Peninsula, and a stationary front positioned over Central Florida, plentiful moisture and instability was in place over South Florida. This resulted in numerous showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening of September 18th across South Florida, including Lake Okeechobee.
