Wider weather episode
A shortwave trough and associated cold front crossed the Upper Ohio Valley during the afternoon and evening hours of September 6th. Sufficient instability and shear supported a few reports of large hail, but downdraft CAPE values of 1000 to 1200 J/kg were key in the creation of several damaging wind gusts in Columbiana and Jefferson Counties.
