Drought in Chickasaw, Mississippi
Drought September 1, 2024 – September 17, 2024 · Chickasaw, Mississippi
What the National Weather Service wrote
Severe drought (D2) conditions persisted early in the month before improving by the middle of the month.
The wider storm
Severe (D2) to extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted across north Mississippi through September. Elevated wildfire danger continued with burn bans in effect as abnormally dry and unseasonably warm conditions were present. Pastures across the area provided little to no feed and supplemental feeding of livestock was required. Tropical Depression Helene was able to squash worsening conditions at the end of the month.
