To start October, the eastern half of Wibaux County worsened to D2-Severe drought.

On the second week of October, the eastern third of Wibaux County worsened to D3-Extreme drought, while the rest of the county worsened to D2-Severe drought.

On the third week of October, the northern three quarters of Wibaux County worsened to or remained in D3-Extreme drought, while the southwestern quarter of the county worsened to or remained in D2-Severe drought. On the fourth week of October most of the county worsened to D3-Extreme drought. These conditions would remain the same through the end of the month.

Above normal temperatures and dry conditions during October allowed drought conditions to continue.
