Wider weather episode
On the afternoon of September 6th, a cold front pressing through the Ohio Valley tapped into daytime heating to help create showers and thunderstorms across southeast Ohio. Dry air aloft yielded an environment capable of strong downburst wind gusts, and caused multiple areas of downed trees in Morgan and Athens Counties. Storms then weakened as they traveled east of the Ohio River in response to the loss of daytime heating after sunset.
