Persistent high pressure brought excessive heat to Central Douglas County during the hottest day of the episode on September 5th. Low temperatures were generally in the mid 50s to lower 60s, and high temperatures in the upper 90s to 105 degrees. A record high temperature was set at Roseburg Regional Airport of 105 degrees.

A strong ridge over the western states with a thermal trough extending from northern California to near the southern Oregon coast brought a few days of hot temperatures, with extreme heat during the hottest day.
