Hundreds of trees were felled by high winds from Helene during a prolonged severe wind event, with thousands of power outages reported by the local utility company and reports on Facebook. Power outages persisted in rural locations for at least three weeks after the storm. Social media photos near Trade, TN featured dozens of trees felled along mountain slopes behind rural homes, along with wind damage to at least one car port.

Tropical Storm Helene caps off a several day heavy rainfall event in association with a stalled closed upper low that drew a stream of tropical moisture into the area on the 25th and 26th. The arrival of Helene on the 27th yielded catastrophic flash flooding and river flooding, as well as significant wind damage as wet soils and strong wind gusts led to forest damage.
