Event narrative

Clines Corners observed a brief high wind gust of 58 mph.

Wider weather episode

An upper level disturbance moved across the central Rocky Mountains during the day on November 24th. Strong mid and upper level winds south of the base of this disturbance moved across the northern mountains and adjacent highlands of New Mexico. Mountain wave activity helped bring these stronger winds down the surface across the northeast and east central highlands resulting in brief high wind gusts at Raton Crews Airport, a mesonet station between Mora and Rociada, and Clines Corners. Las Vegas Municipal Airport observed an approximately 3 hour period of high wind gusts during the late morning and early afternoon. Winds quickly died down during the evening hours around sunset as the disturbance exited east into the Great Plains.
