Unseasonably warm temperatures, very strong wind, and very low humidity combined with dormant, drought-stricken fuels to promote conditions that supported the rapid spread of wildfire across portions of eastern Oklahoma during late October. Numerous wildfires developed during this period, with the largest fires burning over 3600 acres in Osage County, more than 350 acres in Delaware County, and more than 250 acres in Le Flore County.
