Less than 0.15 inches of rainfall since late September caused Severe Drought intensity to begin on October 29, 2024 east of Tipton.

Widespread Moderate Drought (D1) across most of the north-northwestern half of Indiana on October 22, 2024 trended to an expansion of Severe Drought (D2) over more than a dozen counties on October 29th, including portions of nine central Indiana counties, despite modest weekly precipitation totals of 0.01-0.15. These drought conditions then extended beyond the end of December.
