Severe Drought intensity had begun on October 29, 2024, over only the far northwestern and extreme southeastern corners of Howard County. Severe Drought continued in these areas into December 2024 amid below normal monthly precipitation around 2.00 inches.

Wider weather episode

Widespread Severe Drought (D2) which had expanded across almost all of Indiana's northern third on October 29, 2024 was maintained through the November 5th update, including all of Carroll County and portions of 8 other northern central Indiana zones. Locally heavy rains over both the Upper Wabash Valley through the month's first week and the upper White River Valley during November's second week promoted an overall small upgrade to Moderate Drought (D1) on November 12th for portions of Delaware and Madison Counties. Subsequent 2-week rainfall over 1.00 inch led to further improvements on November 26th when D2 retreated out of both far western Tippecanoe County and northern Madison County and vicinity. When November ended Severe Drought continued in all of Carroll County, most of Tippecanoe County, and mainly small portions of 5 other northern central Indiana zones.
