Mostly pea to nickel sized hail but a few larger stones up to golf ball sized. A few dings to ag equipment and crop damage.
Wider weather episode
A quick moving shortwave passed across the area in the very early morning hours of October 4th. Despite modest available moisture fields, strong forcing and the deepening low were enough for convection to develop over central to eastern Iowa. Storms produced large amounts of pea sized hail in some locations with other areas reporting up to golf ball sized hail.
