High winds blew down three trees on Alum Ridge Road.

A potent upper level low trailing behind a strong cold front brought the first notable surge of cold air for the winter season. The gusty northwest wind accompanying the air mass change blew down several trees with one of them falling into a residence in Campbell County. A measured wind gust of 59 mph was recorded at the airport in Roanoke.
