Event narrative

AWOS station KEKS Ennis Airport measured a 61 mph gust as well as sustained winds over an hour averaging 41 mph. Additionally, mesonet sensor MTNOR Norris Hill (MT DOT) measured high sustained winds (Averaged 40 mph over 3 hrs 45 mins) and a gust of 59 mph.

Wider weather episode

A strong pressure gradient developed across Southwest Montana on November 13. Strong surface high pressure in the Yellowstone NP vicinity combined with relatively low pressure over the plains to result in multiple gusts of 58 mph and multiple instances of sustained high winds.
