Localized severe drought conditions persisted across the far southeast portion of the zone, mainly southeast of U.S Highway 70.

Wider weather episode

Despite a slow-moving strong winter storm impacting the state in the beginning of the month along with some beneficial rain and mountain snow across southern and eastern NM in the middle of the month, severe drought conditions across far southeast Lincoln County and southwest Chaves County persisted.
