A strong upper-level low passed slowly across the northern high Plains, bringing a prolonged period of strong winds at times across northwest into south central South Dakota. The strongest winds were generally during the late morning and afternoon hours of the 19th and again during the overnight into morning hours on the 20th. Wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph were noted across much of these areas with difficult travel at times, especially for high profile vehicles.
