Event narrative

A long-duration waterspout was observed via NWS Florida Keys rooftop camera about three to four miles south-southwest of Key West. The waterspout appeared tilted throughout its lifespan, was generally skinny, with the condensation cloud extending about one-fifth the way from cloud base to the horizon.

Wider weather episode

A waterspout was observed southwest of Key West as result of an outflow-driven cluster of showers moving west-southwest off the mainland of the Florida Peninsula interacting with a developing convective cloud line over the Lower Florida Keys.
