Event narrative

Broadcast media and public social media posts reported a waterspout spotted in a video just off the coast of Isabela, near Pocita Montones beach.

Wider weather episode

A nearby front neared and passed Puerto Rico between the 15th and 16th with a second front reaching the area late on the 16th and the 17th. In addition a surface trough and an upper level trough also helped increase instability, showers and thunderstorms. Waterspouts developed from some of these on the 15th and 16th, near Isabela and Cabo Rojo, respectively. The one near Cabo Rojo lasted around 10 minutes and a Spray Ring was visible and recorded.
