Event narrative

Below normal rainfall during the latter half of September resulted in Severe Drought (D2) conditions across northern Oconto County at the beginning of October. Warmer than normal temperatures and below normal precipitation through the 29th resulted in the Severe Drought (D2) continuing. Beneficial rainfall was noted on the 30th and 31st, which was not incorporated into the Drought Monitor until early November.

Wider weather episode

Conditions turned drier than normal during the latter half of September. Meanwhile, warm and dry conditions continued through much of October, leading to Severe Drought (D2) across portions of north-central and northeast Wisconsin. The Drought Monitor indicated Severe Drought (D2) conditions were noted north and east of a line from Merrill to Green Bay to Two Creeks. Soaking rains brought relief to the drought-stricken area on the 30th and 31st.
