Event narrative
Below normal rainfall during the latter half of September into early October resulted in Severe Drought (D2) conditions developing by the 8th. Above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall continued through the 29th resulted in Severe Drought (D2) continuing through the end of the month. Beneficial rainfall was recorded on the 30th-31st, but was not incorporated into the Drought Monitor until early November.
Wider weather episode
Conditions turned drier than normal during the latter half of September. Meanwhile, warm and dry conditions continued through much of October led to Severe Drought (D2) across portions of north-central and northeast Wisconsin. The Drought Monitor indicated Severe Drought (D2) conditions were noted north and east of a line from Merrill to Green Bay to Two Creeks. Beneficial rainfall on the 30th-31st brought an end to the Severe Drought (D2) across portions north-central and northeast Wisconsin on the 31st.
