Cocorahs observers reported 3.0 inches at Naugatuck, 2.0 inches in Meriden, and 1.8 inches in Hamden. Light amounts of freezing rain (0.02 inches) was also detected by the Meriden ASOS, and 0.03 inches at the New Haven ASOS.
Wider weather episode
An accumulating and advisory level snowfall occurred across northern portions of Southern Connecticut in front of a departing strong high pressure system at 1048+mb and a weakening mid-level disturbance which resulting in overrunning. There was an expectation that less snow would be observed with less liquid precipitation overall and some freezing rain towards or just after precipitation onset. Snowfall amounts in far northern sections was more than anticipated.
