The mesonet station FM0649 Dufur and the ODOT station ODT34 at Shaniko reported below freezing temperatures for 7 to 8 hours the morning of Oct. 18th. Many other stations across North Central Oregon recorded below freezing temperatures for several hours the morning of Oct. 18th as well.

Wider weather episode

Cold air advection behind a upper trough exit resulted in morning temperatures cooling well below freezing across portions of the lower elevations in southeast Washington and northeast Oregon.
