The ASOS at the Ellensburg airport and the mesonet station CLR-15_WTHR_01 recorded below freezing temperatures for 2 to 4 hours the morning of Oct. 18th. Many other stations across the Kittitas valley also recorded below freezing temperatures for several hours the morning of Oct. 18th.

Wider weather episode

Cold air advection behind a upper trough exit resulted in morning temperatures cooling well below freezing across portions of the lower elevations in southeast Washington and northeast Oregon.
