Event narrative

There was a return to severe drought conditions (D2) in the far southeast corner of the county with the rest of the county in abnormally dry (D0) or moderate drought (D1).

Wider weather episode

Severe drought conditions (D2) expanded across portions of southern Kansas during October impacting primarily the counties along the border with Oklahoma. There are a couple of exceptions with slight improvements in parts of Cowley and northern Labette counties.
