Severe drought conditions (D2) expanded to the southwest and northeast portions of the county; D2 drought persisted across the southeast section. The rest of the county mainly the northwest corner was in moderate drought (D1).

Wider weather episode

Severe drought conditions (D2) expanded across portions of southern Kansas during October impacting primarily the counties along the border with Oklahoma. There are a couple of exceptions with slight improvements in parts of Cowley and northern Labette counties.
