Most of the county remains in severe drought conditions (D2). There was a slight improvement in the far northern portion of the county to moderate drought (D1).

Wider weather episode

Severe drought conditions (D2) expanded across portions of southern Kansas during October impacting primarily the counties along the border with Oklahoma. There are a couple of exceptions with slight improvements in parts of Cowley and northern Labette counties.
