A wildfire, called the Whitehouse fire, started on November 8, 2024 in the Peekmoose Valley region in the Town of Denning before spreading rapidly up a steep ridge within the Sundown Wild Forest. The fire remained in forested area only destroying several outbuildings. The fire was contained on November 13, 2024 after burning about 645 acres. One firefighter was injured (direct) battling the blaze after suffering from chest pains.
