Brush fire burned 40 acres near San Diego State University at Montezuma Road and Fairmount Avenue. The wildfire changed names so there was some confusion on the name initially, Montezuma or Fairmount. 6 homes reported damaged per media at Lila Drive and Lucille Drive. Evacuation orders (mandatory) were issued. 300 firefighters were involved in the suppression. Relative humidity was only as low as 40 percent and winds were normal daily sea breeze.

A brush fire occurred on Halloween in La Mesa near the San Diego State University campus and just south of I-8.
