An area of low pressure moved over the Alleghenies bringing a period of snow on January 1st. As this system pulled off to the northeast, snow showers and squalls continued through the day and into the overnight. Snowfall totals of two to eight inches were observed, with the higher amounts across far western Grant County, West Virginia.
