A trained spotter measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 61 MPH.

Wider weather episode

A storm system moved east across the area and led to the development of widespread showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening hours of October 24th. A few of these storms become severe, producing hail up to quarter size and damaging wind gusts. A lightning strike near Keosauqua caused a fire that destroyed a historic church.
