Heavy Snow — Wyoming Black Hills, Wyoming

2024-12-30 · Wyoming Black Hills, Wyoming

Wider weather episode

A passing cold front and upper-level shortwave brought gusty northwest winds and colder air to the area. The gusty winds and moisture in place helped to produce a prolonged period of heavy upslope snowfall during the morning and afternoon hours across parts of the Wyoming Black Hills and Bear Lodge Mountains. Amounts of 5 to 12 inches were common across the higher Wyoming Black Hills, especially the Four Corners area to O'Neill Pass. Amounts of 2 to 6 inches fell over the rest of the Wyoming Black Hills, Bear Lodge Mountains and parts of northeast Crook County. The heavy snow impacted travel across a good part of the area during the daytime and evening hours.
