A man in his 30s drown at Wawaloli Beach when he fell into the ocean and was overcome by the large waves. A High Surf Warning was in effect.

Wider weather episode

Large northwest swells produced extra large surf that impacted many north and west facing shores across the state. This swell made its way into the west-facing Kona shores of Big Island and generated high surf.
