A cold and dry airmass settled in over the San Joaquin Valley following the passage of a dry cold front on January 11. Winds diminished during the morning of January 12 and skies remained clear. This resulted in morning temperatures dropping below the freezing mark in rural areas across much of the San Joaquin Valley. With the airmass remaining stagnant for the next few mornings, temperatures dropped below the freezing mark in rural areas across much of the San Joaquin Valley during the mornings of January 13, 14 and 15.
