Snow squall with rapid drop is visibility below one quarter of a mile, winds greater than 25 mph, and quick accumulation of snow on roadways.
Wider weather episode
An area of low pressure moved off into New England bringing a cold front through Virginia. Upslope snow showers and squalls ensued in western Highland County bringing accumulations of three to six inches. Snow showers and squalls along the front impacted portions of the rest of the state bringing accumulations of a coating to two inches.
