A clipper system brought a period of light to moderate snow during the morning of January 16. Through the afternoon and evening, snow showers and squalls developed. These brought quick accumulations. Overnight, light snow mixed with freezing rain continued. Overall snow accumulations averaged 4 to 7 inches along with a coating of ice across Garrett County. Lesser amounts of 2 to 5 inches were observed in western Allegany County along with a coating of ice.
