Event narrative

Multiple ODOT sensors and Co-Op observers along the base of the Blues recorded damaging wind gusts from the afternoon of November 19 to the evening of November 20, peaking at 85 mph at AS881 in Mission. I-84 was also closed for a period of time due to an accident caused by the strong wind gusts.

Wider weather episode

A strong band of SW flow aloft associated with a deep offshore low allowed for very strong wind gusts to occur across the foothills of the Blue Mountains during the overnight period of November 19-20.
