Event narrative

Freezing rain began during the morning of the 5th occasionally mixed with sleet. After a brief break in the afternoon, light snow fell in the evening. Between one quarter and one half inch of freezing rain was reported. Significant icing occurred leading to treacherous travel conditions and numerous trees and branches downed. Much of the county lost power. In addition to the freezing rain, as much as one half inch of sleet fell and up to 1 inch of snow.

Wider weather episode

A potent winter storm brought a mix of wintry precipitation to much of the state. More southerly locations saw significant freezing rain and numerous power outages. Northern locations saw several inches of snow and blowing snow. In between a mix of sleet and snow fell. All areas saw significant travel impacts from the wintry precipitation.
