A light but persistent snowfall event led to snow up to 1 inch being measured in Bristol. Elsewhere, a half inch was recorded in Blountville by both a CoCoRaHS observer and another social media report.

Wider weather episode

An upper level shortwave pivoting through the mean flow enhanced a typical northwest flow setup for snow and brought accumulating snow to portions of northeastern Tennessee. Orographic lift contributed to heavy snowfall in the foothills and mountains of East Tennessee.
