Flash Flood — La Salle, Louisiana
2024-11-09 · near Good Pine, La Salle, Louisiana
Event narrative
Mayo Road south of Highway 8 west of Jena was covered in high water.
Wider weather episode
An upper trough slowly shifted east across the Central and Southern Plains on November 9th, behind a nearly stationary frontal boundary that extended from portions of Southeast Texas into Central and Northeast Louisiana. While the forcing ahead of the trough and along the front resulted in numerous showers and thunderstorms which moved repeatedly over the same areas of Central and Southwest Louisiana, additional moisture streamed northeast from Tropical Storm Rafael over the Central Gulf of Mexico, enhancing the heavy rain and attendant flood threat. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2-6+ inches fell across much of Grant and La Salle Parishes, which resulted in multiple reports of flooding across these areas.
