Overnight low temperatures fell to near -15 F across Kimball County from 1/20 into 1/21, with daytime highs generally remaining under 5 F during the afternoon on 1/20. The cold temperatures combined with gusty winds resulted in a prolonged period of extreme wind chills under -30 F. Minimum observed wind chill values reached -31 F at the Echo (Pine Bluffs) AWOS sensor (9 miles SSW of Bushnell) at 8:55 AM MST on 1/20.
