Event narrative

Severe Drought that began on October 29, 2024 over roughly the northern half of Warren County, continued until 2-week rainfall totals around 2.00 to 3.00 inches along the Illinois border led to an improvement to Moderate Drought over northwestern Warren County. Severe Drought continued northeast of Carbondale through November 26 until these areas also improved to Moderate Drought following additional 2-week rainfall of 1.00 to 1.50 inches.

Wider weather episode

Widespread Severe Drought (D2) which had expanded across almost all of Indiana's northern third on October 29, 2024 was maintained through the November 5th update. Locally heavy rains over the Upper Wabash Valley through the month's first week led to a partial improvement to Moderate Drought conditions (D1) on November 12th in parts of Warren County. Subsequent 2-week rainfall over 1.00 inch promoted further improvement on November 26th when all areas with remaining D2 improved to D1.
