Overnight low temperatures fell to between -15 and -20 F across the Upper North Platte River Basin from 1/20 into 1/21. The cold temperatures combined with gusty winds resulted in a period of extreme wind chills under -30 F. Minimum observed wind chill values reached -38 F at the Skyline WYDOT sensor (12 ESE Encampment) at 9:48 PM MST on 1/20.

Wider weather episode

A strong arctic front brought prolonged frigid temepratures to southeast Wyoming Friday, January 17 through the early morning of Tuesday, January 21. The coldest temperatures occured Sunday night and Monday night.
