A cold front pushed through, with a secondary cold frontal boundary lingering back to the west. Low pressure formed along the boundary and began to strengthen as it pulled away quickly to the east and northeast. The accumulating snow was generated mainly from frontogenetical forcing which occurred to the north and west of the developing surface low. Winter Storm criteria was reached in Orange and Putnam Counties, but fell just short of warning criteria across Northern Westchester. The remainder of SE New York either achieved advisory criteria or fell just short of advisory criteria.
