A light snow fell across Claiborne County for several hours, resulting in 1 inch of accumulation in Tazewell.

Wider weather episode

A shortwave trough, embedded in a larger longwave upper trough, was the lifting source necessary to produce a light snow in the valley and ridges of northeastern Tennessee. Orographic lifting helped produce heavy snow in higher elevations of the mountains of East Tennessee.
