2024-11-01 · near Dutch Town, Ascension, Louisiana

Event narrative

Wider weather episode

An upper level system pushed a cold front into Louisiana and Mississippi on Halloween. By November 1st, the front stall over southern Louisiana and Mississippi. This occurred due to the front driving upper system's far distance from the local area and steadily moving farther away. That stalled front became to focus for slow moving showers and storms which led to flash flooding over southern portions of Baton Rouge Metro.
