KLX Mississippi Canyon 724 platform measured a peak wind gust of 43 mph or 37 knots due to thunderstorm winds.

Wider weather episode

Late season Tropical Storm Rafael was nearly stationary approximately 300 miles southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River. Outer rainbands rotating around Rafael extended hundreds of miles northeast of the storm. As one of those bands passed through the coastal waters south of the Louisiana coastline, it produced gale force wind gusts.
